More information about The Citadel Campus Master Plan

The campus environment plays a critical role in supporting The Citadel's mission, culture, and tradition. The Campus Master Plan is an exciting opportunity for the College to create a vision that reflects our shared values.

The master plan will establish a long-term vision for a campus and guide near-term decisions about facilities investments. During this process, we will assess our buildings, landscapes, and infrastructure to determine what serves us well and where there are opportunities for improvement and greater utilization. Then we will explore scenarios for growth and change and evaluate their impacts on the campus community to select a preferred direction. Lastly, we will develop a roadmap to help implement the vision.

The College is just beginning the Campus Master Plan process, and your participation at this stage is critical. The planning process will be facilitated by a team of consultants led by Ayers Saint Gross, a nationally-recognized design firm with expertise in space analytics, planning, architecture, and design for higher education institutions. Over the next several months, our consultant team will be on campus touring buildings, meeting with stakeholders, and developing various scenarios for consideration. This process will be inclusive, open-ended, and without preconceived outcomes.

The anticipated project schedule is:
Fall 2019: Campus Analysis
Spring 2020: Scenario Planning
Fall 2020: Final Plan
